Dr. Shadeiyah Edwards, Psy.D. was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA and continues to reside there with her son. Dr. Edwards has worked with all age groups. Her professional and educational background has afforded her the opportunity and experience to be exposed to diverse populations. Through her own self-awareness, knowledge of the culture and community of underserved populations, she finds it necessary to provide a culturally supporting environment.
Dr. Edwards attended California State University, Long Beach where she majored in Criminal Justice. She had always dreamed of going to law school after graduation, but went to study in the Masters of Public Administration program. After a year in the program, she decided it was not for her. Dr. Edwards then went to collect her M.A. in Applied Forensic Psychology and Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Forensic Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
Dr. Edwards has years of experience in the mental health field. She has worked with forensics, geriatrics, homeless, and children & families populations. She has worked with individuals with criminal justice backgrounds, co-occurring disorders, trauma histories, substance abuse, severe mental illness, and gangs. She has a commitment to working with parents, single mothers, and single fathers to assist with building and maintaining healthy and positive relationships with their children.
Dr. Edwards would also like to assist those that struggle to coparent effectively. Being a single mother herself, she understands the struggles of coparenting, juggling schedules, and having a balance between her child and career. She also has a commitment to empower women to take control of their lives through education, entrepreneurship, or career.
